Practicing My Korean

Who would have thought my Korean lessons are paying off! I can read what is written on the bus.

Michael has been taking Korean lessons since March in preparation for our vacation next year to Korea. He has lessons three times per week. We have a nice female instructor and she lives in Busan. It was originally four times per week but he convinced me to take his Tuesday class time. I have had eight lessons so far and I can sound out the letters and write them, too.

I sounded out all the words.

This word is bus

There are so many Korean visiting Istelwald, there is an express bus that goes directly from the Interlaken Ost train station to Istelwald. A scene from the Korean series "Crash Landing On You" was filmed there.

Michael and I had lunch with our friend, Käthi, today. Always an enjoyable time when we are together. We went to her house first and then to the Chalet Beizli which is around the corner from Käthi's house.

All three of us had the lamb tenderloin with onions, garlic, vegetable, and croquettes.

This afternoon, I went and watched the children do the mini runs and the start of the Harder Run 4.4 KM which has 755 meters of elevation gain from Interlaken to Harder Kulm.

The older children received this bag.

After the children finished the race, they would receive their medal, get a goodie bag, and pick up a drink.

The younger children received a water bottle instead of a bag.

The volunteers know exactly what to do! This is Swiss organization at its best!

The "sweeper" on the bike is there with the last runner. He encouraged the runner who was last with a "high five"; well done.

This was my Hallmark moment when the boys who finished faster waited for their friend who finished last.

He wanted a certain pose with the finish sign behind him.

The announcer even came down from the booth and interviewed the winner of the race.

This boy didn't win the race but she spoke to him, too.

ree

He came in last. They have already lined up the next group of runners.

ree

The runners were so young they ran with someone. I saw mothers, fathers, grandfathers and grandmothers. So much fun to watch!

ree

This baby can say he ran a race before the age of one. Train them early!

I'm not sure why she was crying. Maybe running is not her sport.

ree

A photographer took her picture. Adorable!

The shirt certainly doesn't fit.

He will grow into the shirt in a year or so.

Getting ready for the start of the Harder Run 4.4 KM

The sweeper is last and sweeps those who can't finish.

ree

The Harder Run had different sponsors so the signs had to be changed. Every volunteer knows what to do and when to do it. Such organization!!!!!!!!!!

Today, the runners for the marathon picked up their travel bags that will be sent before the

race to the finish line. There is a spaghetti supper for the runners tonight. You need to "carb up".

ree

It rained this morning, but cleared up in time for the children's races.

The Jungfrau in all her splendor.
