sWell, when we left Sky Harbor in Phoenix it felt like we were in an oven set on low. Arrived in San Francisco where we experienced mild sweaty sweat.

However, when we got to Zurich our sweat had sweat and quite a huge amount. The humidity was unbearable!!!! It was so difficult to breathe. I definitely will take the dry heat.

Neither Michael nor I remember the take off in Phoenix as we didn't sleep well that night before we left.

The next thing I remember is the gradual descent into San Francisco International Airport.

The fog was either rolling in or trying to break to clear skies. Someday I will try to find out what the red/rust areas are.

This area is at the end of the San Francisco Bay.

The city is off in the distance. The haze makes it difficult to see.

The pier area

So many ships anchored where they are waiting to unload their cargo.

I realize this picture is quite dark but if you look very, very, very closely, you see the city skyline and the Golden Gate Bridge.

We flew American to San Francisco where we arrived at Gate B27. The walk was fine but rolling a carry on bag is quite tiring due to the drag of the wheels on the carpet.

Swiss leaves from gate G13.

Since we had over a six and a half wait, we went to the Polaris Club. It is a wonderful lounge.

Some of the selections you could choose from.

The peach ice tea was the feature for National Peach Month. Quite refreshing!

Hot main dishes and sides

Then there are dining options.

Pickled cucumbers with cilantro and chives.

Harvest chicken salad

Sugar cookies and plums

The Polaris Club also has showers, a baby room, etc.

Michael was sweaty so he decided to take a shower. He had his own room with toilet, sink and all types of shower products such as a loofa, dental kit, deodorant, shaving kit, etc.

So......... here is the first contest of the trip. There are two parts and both parts have to be answered correctly.

  1. With all of the food choices, what was my favorite thing to eat?

  2. Did I take a shower, too? Yes or No?

All entries must be received by Saturday, August 22, 2026 by noon Eastern Daylight Time.

Good luck!

It has become tradition to have a glass of champagne once we board the plane to Switzerland.

Had time to look over the menu. We could choose from:

Sunset view just after the pilot banked the plane

Going to be a long flight!

Have no idea what this is but I ate every bit of the three starters.

Lemon sorbet to cleanse the pallet

The beef was a perfect medium rare.

Such a comfortable bed.

Bread, jams, butter, fruit, strawberry yogurt, bacon, veal sausage, hash brown cake, eggs with chives Hollandaise sauce

We landed from a different direction than we usually do. Today we saw the lakes, instead of the power plant.

I see a profile. Do you?

An angelic head?

Sprüngli chocolate makes a delicious parting gift!!

Thea left us some beautiful and tasty welcoming gifts.

Can't wait to try all these delicacies. Yummy!!!

We are having a thunder storm as I write.

The thunder echoes around the mountains as it does by our house. The temperature is dropping but the humidity isn't. Oh, well!

Time to end today's writings.......until tomorrow!
