You will have to wait to the end to find out who had dinner near us.
Fun to meet up with our friend Joli this morning at breakfast. Her new hairdo is very pretty on her. Joli never changes. She is always smiling, positive, and having fun singing and dancing.
After breakfast, Michael and I walked to the train station to pick up our larger suitcases we had shipped from Zürich so we didn't need to schlep all the bags the first day we arrived.
This is a work day for Michael so I decided to unpack everything from the suitcases and then go on a little walk around Unterseen.
While I was unpacking, Sylvia stopped by to welcome us back and to drop off some cookies for us. That was so very nice of her. Sylvia used to work at the Adventure Guest House but she has moved on to something different. These cookies are so yummy.
The florist, Pur and Schön, is opposite the square.
Hydroelectric power.
So many floral displays around Unterseen and Interlaken.
Clip clop sound can be heard before you even see the carriage.
Had to walk through the Top of Europe flagship store to see what was new.
At the entrance to the souvenir shop. is the historic Eiger Ambassador Express.
"Nice to sweet you" is the motto of the Lindt Mâitre Chocolatiers. They always come up with new things that tempt you to enjoy: chocolate with aromas such as pear, ginger and raspberry or pralines with fruity, crispy and creamy fillings. Then, there are the classics. With good reason, the gold bunny or the Lindor balls have been on the hit list for years.
They were giving out samples of the Lindor balls, too. I could choose from the milk or the dark chocolate. Since it is very hot in Interlaken again, I had to eat the whole thing before I left the store as I didn't want it to melt. Lindt chocolate is tasty but Sprüngli is so much better, in my opinion. Well... it"s chocolate so why be fussy.
Lindt is a company where your opinion counts.
Did you know...Lindt receive countless letters from customers every day. "Whether they are meant to thank or inspire new creations, each one is appreciated. The Lindt Maître Chocolatiers are always taking these ideas into consideration to find new ways to surprise. That’s how our XXL-sized LINDOR truffle came to be produced in Italy."
"In 2009, to make the production even more collaborative, Lindt organized the first LINDOR festival in Switzerland. These festivals allow the Lindt MaîtresChocolatiers to get to know you and your palate. On the subject of taste, did you know that everyone enjoys LINDOR truffles in their own specific way? There are the enthusiastic LINDOR fans who are so excited they pop the entire truffle into their mouth straightaway. Then there are the LINDOR lovers who take the time to savor each truffle, letting its full aroma gradually unfold on their palate as it melts away on their tongue. Then, there are those who bite off half the truffle and then lick out the delicately melting filling with gusto."
I must admit, I have eaten them all three ways.
Even though Lindt is a Swiss company, if you buy Lindt in the U.S., it probably came from Stratham, New Hampshire.
"In the Swatch Boutique you will find a wide selection of trendy, original and practical watches and accessories. The highlight? You have the opportunity to create a live watch with a special design, which is exclusively available in Interlaken worldwide. Enjoy every minute in the Alps with a real piece of Switzerland on your wrist."
Thirty thousand Victorinox sack knives hanging from the ceiling.
When the Swiss Karl Elsener opened a cutlery workshop in 1884, he would probably never have dreamed that his pocket knives would become world-famous under the name "Victorinox". Elsener also had a nose for business. In 1891, he delivered knives to the Swiss army. The "Swiss Army Knife" was also appreciated by the American soldiers who were stationed in Europe after the Second World War. It was one of their most popular souvenirs. Today, hardly any travelers to Switzerland leave the country without a bag knife in their luggage. A Victorinox is Swiss made, indestructible and practical.
Lily, the hand carved cow.
I stopped at the Coop to pick up a few things. The store closest to us has been remodeled. It is beautiful and modern in style. Had to take a picture of the Dunkin Donuts. Really!!!!!???? Seriously!!!!!??? Dunkin Donuts? Do they have Dunkin Donuts to please Americans? Americans...try some European pastries and breads. Be adventurous.
I did buy some yoghurt. For Michael, I bought pineapple, lemon, and cherry. For myself, I picked up hazelnut and rhubarb vanilla.
Michael and I had dinner at Città Vecchia.
"Città Vecchia maintains the traditional Mediterranean cuisine and attaches great importance to high quality. Their specialties include fresh pasta, fish and meat dishes made with lots of love. The homemade pizzas, loved by our guests, complete the offer."
The menu offers fresh and authentic Italian cuisine from Sardinia.
The people working at Città Vecchia can serve you in five languages: German, English, Italian, Spanish and Portuguese.
"The restaurant has two areas. On the ground floor there are 45 places and two, three levels higher in the 'saletta Toscana' there are another 25 places, which are also suitable for smaller groups or family celebrations. The cozy terrace overlooking the town house square is a popular place for guests to experience a few pleasant hours."
We arrived before our reservation time. The son pointed to "our table" and asked if he could already put in our order. Are we that predictable? Yes! We have frequented this restaurant over the years so they know what we want to order. We ordered our usual: a mixed salad served with hot homemade bread and a rusticana pizza. Michael had a beer and I had a panache, half beer and half Sprite. A panache can also be made with half beer and half lemonade.
I told them next time I want to change things up and order something different. He made a recommendation which sounded quite different from what I order. A lady sitting at an outside table ordered it and ate everything. Can't wait to try it as it is totally different from what I have ever ordered.
The salad had lettuce, tomatoes, cucumbers, red cabbage, carrots, corn, and beets. Every vegetable has its own place. Local grown produce.
The chili oil is a favorite spooned over the pizza. This is better than just chili flakes sprinkled over the pizza top.
The girls wanted a picture with the dog.
There was no room outside for the group of men to sit, so they all came inside to eat.
The dog was so well behaved! She never barked, made any sound, or moved around. Since the dog was blocking the path to the restroom, the owner asked if the dog could be positioned between the tables.
The dog never made a sound when one of the men rocked back in his chair onto the dog.
The dog had his own bowl of water.
Tomorrow, Michael and I will take the train to the Avenches Tattoo held again this year at the Swiss National Stud Farm.
