Freshly Fallen Snow

It was raining this morning, but about midday, the sun peeked out. We took the train from Interlaken Ost to Lauterbrunnen; hopped on a bus to Stechelberg, and then took the new cable car up to Mürren.
"In 1911, the 19-year-old J.R.R. Tolkien explored this area. It’s a little-known fact that these landscapes provided the inspiration for the settings described by the famous British author in “The Lord of the Rings”. Yes, really: in the Lauterbrunnen Valley, anyone who has read the books and seen the films will feel like they have landed in Middle-earth. The 72 waterfalls define the very essence of the Lauterbrunnen Valley."
Enjoy the "soul quenching" scenery.

Staubbachfall
This 297 meter (974 feet) high waterfall is the key landmark of Lauterbrunnen and is the highest free-falling waterfall in Switzerland. Because of the frequent thermals, the water sprays in all directions like dust, which is how the waterfall got its name (Staub means dust). The Staubbach Waterfall is illuminated during the peak season. In summer, you can view it from behind the water thanks to a specially designed viewing gallery. Even the world-famous poet Johann Wolfgang von Goethe was inspired by the impressive waterfall and in 1779 wrote the poem “Song of the Spirits over the Waters”.

"A total of 72 waterfalls gush down into the Lauterbrunnen Valley from the vertical cliff faces, some of which are as high as 400 meters (1312 feet). The roar and rush of these unique natural spectacles accompanies hikers on this picturesque trail from Lauterbrunnen to Stechelberg."

The new cable car station in Stechelberg is quite impressive and gorgeous.

Had an early dinner at the Hotel Alpenruh's restaurant

Hello Fall

Michael and I both started with the cream of brussel sprouts soup. Tasty! It was a first time for the bot of us. It was delicious. Have you ever had this? Love that dollop of cream that just melts into the soup.

We had the Herdsman's cheese blend from the Molkerei in Meiringen.

Love the new train from Mürren to Grütschalp.
