Enjoying the day with friends

Updated: Nov 24, 2019

Love the views from our bedroom at Adventure Guest House.

The view out our bedroom window last evening.

The Jungfraujoch is a saddle connecting the two peaks of the Jungfrau and Mönch, at an elevation of 3,466 meters.

The Sphinx Observatory, one of the highest astronomical observatories in the world, provides an additional viewing platform at a height of 3,572 meters (11,719 ft). It can be reached by an elevator from the Jungfraujoch. The observatory houses one of the Global Atmosphere Watch's atmospheric research stations.

I see a man's face on the mountain. Do you?

The view this morning.

Red skies at night,

Sailors delight.

Red skies at morning,

Sailors take warning.

When we see a red sky at night, this means that the setting sun is sending its light through a high concentration of dust particles. This usually indicates high pressure and stable air coming in from the west. Basically good weather will follow. Red sky in morning, sailor's warning.

A reddish sky around sunrise means a lot of water vapor already present in the atmosphere. As clouds come in from the west, rainy weather is thus expected. This explains why "Red sky in the morning, sailors take warning". A reddish sky near dusk means that weather has improved in the upstream area to the west.

Jen, whom works here at the Adventure Guest House, came over in the afternoon to watch Amelie with me. It is a beautiful movie! It is in French with English subtitles. It is the type movie my friend Rosie and I would see. Great music. Good acting. Beautiful lighting. Well done. Michael knows I really cared for it as I couldn't stop talking about it later in the day.

Jen introduced us to some vegan snacks. Michael and I were surprised how tasty they were. Whom would have known we would actually like them?! I guess you don't know unless you try it.

Michael likes to tease people he likes. I shudder thinking they won't like it or understand his humor. It was difficult to eat the rice cake with cheese and marmalade when Michael kept calling it styrofoam.

These last few weeks, Jen and I have had so much fun laughing. We both love Twisty, the cat, too.

This evening, we met up with Fränzi and her boyfriend, Marcel. This was the first time we have met him. We had a wonderful time chatting and getting to know him. We went to dinner at Schloss Schadau. Fränzi has an infectious and distinct laugh. I would know her anywhere just hearing that laugh.

They make a cute couple.

Wonderful day spent with friends.
