Cruising Lake Brienz on the Lötschberg

The name Interlaken means between two lakes and so Interlaken is between Lake Brienz and Lake Thun.

Today we took a boat ride on the Lötschberg from Interlaken to Brienz. Enjoyed constant views of the lake and unique mountain backdrops. Love crisscrossing the lake. For me, I love Lake Brienz more than Lake Thun. It is more intimate.

The fleet on Lake Brienz consists of a total of four boats, one of which is a steamboat.

"Viva Mexico! Some evening you can get that Mexican feeling on Lake Brienz by boarding a special dinner cruise – experience a round trip on beautiful Lake Brienz and enjoy fajitas à discretion with nachos, guacamole and much more."

"The nostalgic paddle steamer Lötschberg is the Bijou of Lake Brienz: Experience nostalgia and pure romance on the Belle-Epoque saloon steam boat. The original steam boat welcomes its passengers stylishly and is ideal for events, company meetings, banquets, cocktails and evening trips."

Our friend's great-grandfather was the captain of the Lötschberg.

This is the second class lounge section of the Lötschberg.

This is the first class section.

This once was the smoking area on the upper deck.

Cruising in the channel.

On the lake

Coming into Bönigen. I thought Bönigen was going to be bypassed but the captain backed in.

Surprised there was entertainment.

We were sitting outside from Interlaken to Bönigen when Michael decided he was cold and wanted to sit inside.

Sure......he just wanted a hot chocolate!!! He laughed when he said they gave him an empty Kambly Bretzeli cookie package.

There is nothing better than drinking rich and creamy hot chocolate on a cool day!

Yes, he can devour that cookie in one bite.

Next stop was Istlewald.

Istlewald was one of the "Crash Landing on You" filming locations in this area of Switzerland.

Just like many of the visitors visiting Istlewald, you might be visiting this pretty village because of the Korean Netflix series “Crash Landing on You”, with Son Ye-Jin and Hyun-Bin. Do you want to take a picture on the boat pier too?

Off in the distance is Giessbach, the next stop.

Looks like the funicular is starting to come down from the hotel.

Hiking times! This is fast Swiss walking times, though.

Love those eyes!

Last stop was Brienz

There was something in the bushes this cat was listening for. It is a cat I haven't seen around the neighborhood this past week.

Took the train to Bern this evening to have dinner at Fränzi and Marcel"s apartment. They both are excellent cooks!

We had this aperitif. Delicious!!!!!!! Made in Bern. Fränzi served it over ice and with tonic water. Quite refreshing!

Ingredients: organic oranges, organic schnapps, organic sugar, water and love.

The blue moon rising over the Mönch and the JJungfrau. Quick shots as I needed to finish tonight's writing and I'm tired.

Will leave you with this message I saw earlier in the day.

One understands a smile in every (any) language. Keep smiling!!!!
